New online course: “Integrating Food and Energy Production on Farmland” with Value4Farm

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new open online course (OOC) “Integrating Food and Energy Production on Farmland”, developed within the Value4Farm project in collaboration with University of Reading and hosted on the learning platform FutureLearn.

The course has been available since 19 January and offers a practical introduction to how farms can integrate renewable energy solutions while maintaining sustainable and productive agricultural systems. It focuses in particular on agrivoltaics and biogas as key technologies to support the transition towards low-carbon and resource-efficient farming.

Designed as a flexible and accessible programme, the course runs over two weeks and requires around three hours of study per week. Participants will explore both the technical and practical dimensions of integrated food and energy production, supported by real-world examples and direct insights from farmers and experts involved in the Value4Farm project.

The course is intended for a wide audience, including: farmers and farm managers, advisors and consultants, policymakers and public authorities, NGOs and civil society organisations, renewable energy developers and professionals.

Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate. The course is also accredited by EIT Food, reinforcing its relevance for professionals and learners interested in sustainable agri-food and energy systems.
