On October 16, Inagro (Belgium) welcomed over 60 participants to an inspiration day focused on biogas and its innovative applications. The event highlighted how biogas can play a key role in building a more sustainable and circular agricultural sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key highlights<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biogas installation at Inagro was thoroughly renovated in 2023 and has now been operational again for over two years. During the site visit, participants discovered ongoing research projects and future valorisation strategies for biogas. Inagro not only examines the technical performance of the installation but also assesses its economic feasibility, ensuring that innovations are practical and profitable for farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Value4Farm<\/a> project<\/strong>, several pioneering applications were showcased: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Microturbine<\/strong> \u2013 a compact system that produces both heat and electricity with minimal emissions and low maintenance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 In situ biomethanation<\/strong> \u2013 a biological process where hydrogen is injected into the digester to convert CO\u2082 into extra methane, creating renewable biomethane while storing surplus green electricity (power-to-gas<\/em>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Biomethane tractor<\/strong> \u2013 a New Holland T6.180 methane-powered tractor currently being tested for efficiency, ease of use, and economic viability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These developments illustrate how biogas can drive innovation across energy, technology, and agriculture<\/strong>, supporting the transition towards climate-friendly and resource-efficient farming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
