Value4Farm at the Iceland Innovation Week!

On the 15th and 16th of May 2024, Helga Gunnlaugsdóttir, Sveinn Aðalsteinsson and Magnús Yngvi Jósefsson from Value4Farm’s partner Orkídea presented our Horizon Europe-funded project at the Iceland Innovation Week.

Sveinn Aðalsteinsson, Orkídea’s director, offered insights on the aims and objectives of this collaborative initiative and explained how it represents an important contribution to the green transition of Iceland’s agriculture industry.

The project was hailed as an example of European support for regional strategies to address the climate change challenge.

Orkídea Team also used this opportunity to present another project from its portfolio, the CINEA-LIFE-funded project Terraforming LIFE, aimed at designing and developing new technologies and methods to create an Integrated Agriculture Aquaculture (IAA) system where aquaculture, agriculture farmers, and agriculturists are at the heart of a circular economy. In the Terraforming LIFE project, a combination of processed sludge and animal manure will be transported by a mobile treatment unit to a biofertiliser plant. It will be boosted with digestate from any dead fish that unavoidably perish during the rearing process and eventually dried to create a powerful natural fertilser and biogas.
